DESIGNER PROFILE: JEREMY SCOTT
Inspired by none other than Kelly Cutrone last night on Kell On Earth, we decided to probe a bit and put the spotlight on a designer who is off the beaten fashion path, and always left of center. His iconic collections feature wild, outrageous pop art themes, and this latest (FW2010) was no exception.
Admittedly, what caught our attention was the kitschy collaboration pliage bag that he has done with Longchamp since 2006 for his front-row clientele and uber-quirky fan base. Here, a photo of the most recent creation rests comfortably under Leigh Lezark’s feet:
In uncovering some of his genius we remembered seeing the muppet diva, Miss Piggy at one of his shows a few seasons back. (She has claimed- along with Agyness Deyn, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, that he is her favorite designer.) Karl Lagerfeld has also said that “[he] Scott was the only designer who could ever take over after him when he leaves Chanel” (LeMonde).

Flying this distance south of Manila will take you to Davao City.
It’s my first time to travel by plane and it’s my first trip out of Luzon. I really didn;t have the time to visit the “must see” places in Davao. I checked in at MyHotel in downtown Davao near the City Hall just before midnight. I’ve got a promo rate of 800 Pesos for a standard single bed room. The Hotel is clean and orderly and the staff are friendly. I managed to take a walk around Quezon Park infront of the City Hall past midnight where there was a “tiangge” and a lot of Davao folks are hanging out.
The following morning, I had durian for my breakfast. It was my first time to eat a durian and I liked it!. The smell was not that terrible as I expected. Its odor is strong and probably that’s why other peoplr don’t like it. We passed by Bangkerongan Market to buy some Mangosteen. Then While waiting for the person I had a meeting with, I had a bottle of beer atop Gaisano South Mall. (which I later found out that drinking beer after durian might be bad). We had a lunch meeting at Dencia’s where I tried their signature lugaw and tokwa’t baboy.
That afternoon we headed to Crocodile Park and met “Pangil” which is said to be the largest living crocodile in the Philippines in captivity. (Though I still find it small). Beside the crocodile farm is Tribu K’Mindanawan where a guide explained to us the culture of different tribes in Mindanao.
Then we headed straight to the airport worried that I might be late for the flight only to find out that it was cancelled and I was booked in another flight and that I have to wait for three hours inside the terminal.
Davao is clean, organized. No traffic. The city is spread out and is not congested. I have a hard time trying to remember street names though we drove past places several times - as if we are moving in circles. Definitley I will go back to Davao.
